Friday's Quote to Ponder

It's short, it's simple, it's to the point, but a lot of meaning behind it, I think. It's been a favorite of mine for a long time. Here it is:

"Whatever you are, be a good one."--Abraham Lincoln

Whether you're president of the U.S. or just a stay at home mom, strive to be the best at your occupation. Put your heart into it. Always be on the lookout for ways to improve. Re-examine and alter goals where necessary. Think of who is affected by your position. This is SO vitally important in leadership and customer service roles. I hate to get bad service at a restaurant from someone you know just hates their job. My theory: If you have to work, and you choose to work at a certain place, then why not put your all into it? BE NICE! It will make your day so much better. The person who you smile at or give good service to may just turn around and do that for someone else. It may change the course of their day--all in your one seemingly tiny nice gesture. Just a job well done--strive to be a "good one".

I hope you've all liked my week of new subjects. I know many have looked, but I need some feedback--let's kick it up a notch!!

I am an administrative assistant, or well at least that is my title, but some days I do more than my share. I greet people every day all day when they visit the college I work at. If I didn't smile and greet them when they came through the door what kind of place would they think they came to? I enjoy being in this position because I am a people person. I enjoy talking and meeting people. I can always improve, well anyone can, so I will take the advice and do my best. Love to you.....

Love that! Perfect example of what I'm talking about. If you looked sour and were short with people when they came in, they would not feel welcomed there, and maybe would wonder why they came to that college. Just being nice is making their college experience better and worthwhile.

Very challenging. This is exactly the kind of challenge I need in my life.

I love your new blog. It just seems to "fits you"...like an old cherished sweater you should have still been wearing -- everybody loved it.

I look forward to next week!

Thanks! Yay! Positive feedback! I like the idea of planning the subjects of my posts. It makes it easier to come up with blog-worthy material. Of course, I'll stick in odd posts here and there too, as the occasion arises :)

P.S. I love sweaters :)
